An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Electrical Technician to join a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will provide electrical engineering and technical support to maximise equipment availability, minimise downtime and contribute to the achievement of production targets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reactive, preventative and planned maintenance, fault finding, PLC programming, robotics support and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring compliance with all health, safety, quality and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance and Technical Support
- Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose electrical faults and perform effective repairs to minimise production downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
- Maintain electrical equipment to ensure optimum machine performance and reliability.
- Complete all maintenance activities according to approved maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all maintenance job cards are completed accurately and closed upon completion.
- Provide electrical engineering support to production departments.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with equipment specifications and maintenance standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
PLC, Automation and Robotics
- Maintain, troubleshoot and program PLC-controlled equipment.
- Maintain robotic systems to ensure reliable production performance.
- Assist with equipment upgrades and process improvements.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery where required.
- Maintain process capability through effective electrical and automation support.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Follow company maintenance procedures and operating instructions.
- Identify and report equipment risks and unsafe conditions.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with applicable legislation and company policies.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records.
- Promote a safe working environment at all times.
Customer Service and Operational Support
- Build effective working relationships with production, quality and other support departments.
- Provide prompt technical support to minimise production interruptions.
- Respond effectively to breakdowns and maintenance requests.
- Demonstrate professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the factory.
Cost Control
- Promote the efficient use of maintenance resources.
- Control maintenance-related expenditure within approved budgets.
- Minimise waste through effective planning and preventative maintenance.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability while reducing maintenance costs.
- Ensure company assets and equipment are used responsibly.
Minimum Qualifications
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Information Technology at NQF Level 6.
Recognised Trade Test.
Additional PLC, robotics or automation certifications will be advantageous.
Experience
Up to three yearsβ experience as an Electrical or Electronic Technician within a manufacturing environment.
Experience in preventative and planned maintenance.
Experience with fault finding and electrical troubleshooting.
Experience maintaining PLC-controlled equipment.
Experience working with industrial robots.
Experience within an automated manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
